Community Supported Agriculture
CSA is a system that connects you to your food and the people who grow it, while delivering weekly in-season veggie and fruit boxes. It allows you to place your food dollar directly in the hands of a family farm, a farm you know, and a farm that adopts sustainable practices to respect the health and nutritional value of your food and the land on which it is grown. In the CSA system, members mostly pay before the start of the season for a share of the farm's harvest. In turn, they receive a portion of farm products each week throughout the growing season. To order your share contact the farm at 715-779-3254 or use our easy online ordering above.
How we grow our food
All of our vegetables and fruit are grown in accordance with organic standards, which means you'll receive produce without synthetic herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers and plastic residues. We minimize fossil fuel use by using hand tools, solar and wind energy, and sequestering carbon in our soils.
Most of our crops are open pollinated and heirloom varieties which preserve and enhance our seed heritage. Many of our less common fruits and vegetables we choose to grow are higher in antioxidants and minerals.

THE NORTH WIND CSA DIFFERENCE
- Fruit is found in most boxes.
- Most of the vegetables are heirloom based and come from our own seeds.
- Environmental impact and energy use guide our farm and personal decisions and choices.
- We grow what we sell so customers know where their food comes from.
- Use of plastic is minimized in growing and packaging.
- Our electricity comes from solar panels and a wind generator. We trial electric vehicles, including a small cultivating tractor.
- Well water used for washing vegetables is tested annually in our state certified kitchen that has been inspected since 1991.
- Wood is utilized for heating, hot water, cooking and canning needs.
- Our farm is open to the public for commerce during regular hours most days of the growing season. Many visitors come to view our farming practices, alternative energy applications, and the array of jams, jellies, and fruits we sell.
- We are experienced growers that embrace concepts and practices from permaculture, agroecology, forest gardening and emerging pathways.
- Foods in our CSA are all produced on the edge of the Bayfield fruit district, separated by woods and distance from farms that may spray chemical pesticides.
